LONG WEEKEND BOAT AVAILABILITY

On Sat., July 31, several of the club boats will depart on
the epic journey to Keats Island, returning Monday, Aug. 2.
These boats will be unavailable over the long weekend: 5
Vanguards, 2 RS-500s, 3 Hobie-16s, and 3 Nacra F-18s. That

UBC SAILING CLASSIC AUGUST 14 - GET READY!

To celebrate the club's 51st birthday, UBC Sailing will host
a full day of exciting competitions and fun for members of
all skill levels. If you were there last year, you know this
event is wall-to-wall entertainment - including a BBQ and
social with musical entertainment all evening long! Come
on down to celebrate 51 years with past and present members.

The day will start at noon with our Second Annual UBC
Sailing Classic Regatta. Later, a social and DJ will close
down the evening. In between, there will be great events
such as the infamous boat sinking competition and multifleet
reply.

You'll have a chance to sign up for the boat you wish to
race on the day of the regatta. Food ($3) and drink ($4)

SAILOR OF THE WEEK: ENGLISH BAY PHOTOS

This week's Sailor of the Week is a not a single person, but
a collection of photos from the lovely waters of English
Bay. This set features two of our senior members ripping it
up in an RS-500! The ladies did a magnificent job of filling
the gennaker, making for some great photos.

Special thanks to Mike Cotter of Jericho for the lift and
Andrew Porritt for the back-up.

See the collection of pictures on the club's Facebook page
or at http://www.robarazzi.biz/ubcsailing.html.

RACE SEASON BEGINS!

Tuesday nights are race nights at Jericho! All summer the
Jericho staff runs a great casual racing series, and we'd
love to see more UBC members on the start line. Racing's fun
for all skill levels and is a great way to improve your
sailing. Come at 5 PM for the 6:15 PM water start.

MULTIHULL RACING

If you are a multihull sailor and are interested in coming
down and getting on a boat, you can now book yourself as
crew using our new online booking system at:

http://ubccatbooking.appspot.com/

If you are an experienced multihull sailor (20 logged days
on Hobies/Nacras and passed Advanced II) and are interested
in racing and gaining access to our Nacra F18 with spinnaker
or Infusions, send multihullracing@ubcsailing.org an email
and Kaspar will pair you with a skipper to qualify.

MONOHULL RACING

Monohull racing is intended to be low-key and fun. Meet
beside the Vanguards at 5:30 PM on Tuesdays to rig up. You
will be paired with a sailing partner (or you can bring your
own). The first start is at 6:15 PM and races continue until
the wind quits.

The club has suspended classes on Tuesdays, meaning all
seven Vanguard 15's and five Lasers are available for
racing. Please email Kevin at monohull-racing@ubcsailing.org
if you have any further questions.
