BEACH PARTY: BAND, DJ, BBQ, DRINKS, AND FIREWORKS!!
    - UBC Sailing Club celebrates on July 24 @ 8 PM

The social team has worked hard to bring you the last Beach
Party of the summer. On July 24th, come down to the Jericho
Sailing Centre to party with sailors, paddlers, windsurfers,
and landlubbers. Arrive by 9:30 PM to watch the Celebration
of Light fireworks.

Disclaimer: This may be the best night of your life. We are
not responsible if you cannot find joy in future, mediocre
events.

BBQ Special: FREE beverage with advanced purchase

Party tickets purchased in advance (either hardcopy or online
will-call) receive a complimentary beverage before 9:30 PM.
Come down early and have dinner with us - the BBQs ignite at
8 PM. Get the sangria before it's gone!

Music from Redeye Empire & DJ Brad Winter!

Redeye Empire is stoked to be bringing their energy to the
best venue in Vancouver by rocking the stage for the UBC
Sailing Club. They have toured extensively in Canada and
south of the boarder, resulting in tremendous success (and a
performance in Whistler for the 2010 Olympic Games!)

See more at http://www.myspace.com/redeye29records

DJ Brad Winter knows how to throw down the beats. He'll keep
your body moving between sets and into the early morning.

LOST BLACK PROMOTION WETSUIT

A black ProMotion wetsuit with pink prints was lost on
Sunday, June 13 between 8:30 PM and Monday morning at 7 AM.
It's possible it was accidentally swapped with a North
wetsuit that had been left previously in the compound.

Please check your closets, ask around, and if you have any
information, contact Maryam Moghaddas at marmogh@gmail.com,
or by phone at 778-997-4726.

RACE SEASON BEGINS!

Tuesday nights are race nights at Jericho! All summer the
Jericho staff runs a great casual racing series, and we'd
love to see more UBC members on the start line. Racing's fun
for all skill levels and is a great way to improve your
sailing. Come at 5 PM for the 6:15 PM water start.

RS-500 TUESDAY RACING

All 4 RS-500s are available for Tuesday Racing on July 6. A
great way to hone your skills in an easy-going race
environment. Email rsfivehundred@googlegroups.com to find a
partner. Arrive at 5:15 PM, first start at 6:15 PM.

MULTIHULL RACING

If you are a multihull sailor and are interested in coming
down and getting on a boat, you can now book yourself as
crew using our new online booking system at:

http://ubccatbooking.appspot.com/

If you are an experienced multihull sailor (20 logged days
on Hobies/Nacras and passed Advanced II) and are interested
in racing and gaining access to our Nacra F18 with spinnaker
or Infusions, send multihullracing@ubcsailing.org an email
and Kaspar will pair you with a skipper to qualify.

MONOHULL RACING

Monohull racing is intended to be low-key and fun. Meet
beside the Vanguards at 5:30 PM on Tuesdays to rig up. You
will be paired with a sailing partner (or you can bring your
own). The first start is at 6:15 PM and races continue until
the wind quits.

The club has suspended classes on Tuesdays, meaning all
seven Vanguard 15's and five Lasers are available for
racing. Please email Kevin at monohull-racing@ubcsailing.org
if you have any further questions.

ADDITIONAL SAILING/WINDSURF LESSONS - MAKE YOUR OWN!

If six (6) or more members arrange to have the same
availability for a weekday sailing or windsurf lesson
session, dinghy lessons coordinator Sarah Inouye will
attempt to schedule an additional session to accommodate
them (dependent on instructor availability).

To help coordinate we have set up a thread on our forum.
Just create an Ocean Addicts account on our website and log
in to the Ocean Addicts forum at:

http://ubcsailing.org/component/option,com_ccboard/forum,2/lang,en/view,topiclist/

PRIVATE LESSONS AVAILABLE NOW

So your lessons are done and you feel like you could still
use some improvement - did you know you can book a private
lesson with any instructor?

One-on-one attention on the water will improve your skills
quickly. Only $25/hour! Or sail with a friend and split the
cost. Get in touch with instructors through Sarah I at
sailing-lessons@ubcsailing.org.
