Registration
New Members
You can sign up for UBC Sailing Club in 2 easy steps:
1) If you are new to the club and want to register for the 2011 season, click here:
Please complete the online portion of the registration ahead of time to speed up the process. If you’d like to take lessons, select your preferences via the registration system. Please note, this does not guarantee you enrollment in a lesson: to confirm your lesson spot, you must pay for your lesson at one of our registration days or Office Hours. Please also complete the 3 waivers (UBC Sailing, Jericho and UBC AMS Waivers) and bring them with you to Registration Days to ensure efficient service.
2) Show up to Registration Days (see above for dates – the club will likely fill up on the first day) or Office Hours.
Your membership is only official once you have completed registration at our Registration Days or Office Hours. We’ll collect waivers and payments (cash or credit card only) and will need to see your UBC student ID. If you’ve signed up for a lesson online, this is when you pay for it and become officially enrolled. If you are already a proficient sailor, you can elect to take a proficiency exam.
Returning Members
If you are a previous UBC Sailing Club member and are already in the database, use your email & password to log in here:
The system will allow you to update your contact information, register for the 2011 season, and sign up for lessons. You then need to attend Office Hours to pay your dues and confirm your lesson spots. Safety Orientation will be provided during Registration Days which are mandatory to obtain a club key.
Finalizing Registration
Registration for membership and lessons is only finalized upon receipt of payment by UBC Sailing Club. You must come in person to Registration Days with payment (cash/credit card only) to complete your registration.
Safety & Orientation Session *
Mandatory* for returning members, every year. You must attend a Safety Orientation before obtaining your 2011 key.
Now that registration days are over, Safety Orientation will be arranged on demand, after which time you will obtain your keys.
Other Registration Information
Payment Options
UBC Sailing Club accepts cash and credit card only. UBC Sailing Club does not accept cheques.
Due to AMS policies, credit cards are processed using a special online ‘virtual credit card terminal’ provided by an external company under contract with the AMS. A service fee is charged on every payment, thus we strongly prefer cash for all payments.
In addition, members should know that credit card payments will be processed through this ‘virtual credit card terminal’ at Office Hours. The system does not swipe your card, but requires the exec/staff member to enter your card number online.
Membership Classes
Student: Must be a current student and provide a student card as proof of status
Associate: UBC Staff (with proof of employment), UBC Alumi (with Alumni Card), or Student of a Non-UBC Post Secondary Institution (current student with a student card)
AMS regulations require us to limit the number of general/associate members. Since there is no limit to the number of UBC student members, current UBC students can join the club anytime.
(What the heck is AMS? It’s the Alma Mater Society, UBC’s Student Society)
Forms
Please print and fill out all three of the below forms prior to coming to a registration day.
