UBC SAILING CLUB’S NEW SEASON HAS STARTED!
With warm summer days approaching, UBC Sailing Club is gearing up for another great season. We are happy to announce our recent fleet expansions and improvements:
- 3 Nacra F18s/Infusions (bringing the total to 5)
- 1 Flying Junior (bringing the total to 7)
- 2 Single Kayaks & 1 Double Kayak
- 2 Intermediate Boards & 3 Stand Up Paddle Boards
- Additional motorboat to free up a Laser during lessons
Get excited! It’s going to be another great year, both on and off the water!
Membership
We are sorry to announce that General/Associate membership has reached its cap for the 2010 season. We are still accepting current UBC Students as 2010 members.
AMS regulations require us to limit the number of general/associate members. Due to overwhelming demand, UBC Sailing Club reached capacity for general/associate members at the first registration day this year! For those returning members who missed out, be sure to attend Returning Members’ Night next year, which is the only time to guarantee your registration. Since there is no limit to the number of UBC student members, current UBC students can join the club anytime.
New Members
You can sign up for UBC Sailing Club in 2 easy steps:
1) If you are new to the club and want to register for the 2010 season, click here:
Please complete the online portion of the registration ahead of time to speed up the process. If you’d like to take lessons, select your preferences via the registration system. Please note, this does not guarantee enrolment in a lesson: to confirm your lesson spot, you must pay for your lesson at Office Hours. Please also complete 3 waivers (UBC Sailing, Jericho and UBC AMS Waivers) and bring them with you to Office Hours to ensure efficient service.
2) Show up to Office Hours.
Your membership is only official once you have completed registration at Office Hours. We’ll collect waivers and payments (cash or credit card only) and will need to see your UBC student ID. If you’ve signed up for a lesson online, this is when you pay for it and become officially enrolled. If you are already a proficient sailor, you can elect to take a proficiency exam.
Returning Members
If you are a previous UBC Sailing Club member and are already in the database, use your email & password to log in (top right corner).
The system will allow you to update your contact information, register for the 2010 season, and sign up for lessons. You then need to attend Office Hours to pay your dues and confirm your lesson spots. Safety Orientation will be scheduled on demand now that registration days are over (mandatory to get your new key).
Registration and Payment Dates
Registration for membership and lessons is only finalized upon receipt of payment by UBC Sailing Club. You must come in person to Jericho with payment (cash/credit card only) to complete your registration during Office Hours. Look for Marty upstairs in the Members’ Lounge.

Safety & Orientation Session
Mandatory for returning members, every year. You must attend a Safety Orientation before obtaining your 2010 key.
Now that registration days are over, Safety Orientation will be arranged on demand, after which time you will obtain your keys.
Payment Options
UBC Sailing Club accepts cash and credit card only. UBC Sailing Club does not accept cheques.
Due to AMS policies, credit cards are processed using a special online ‘virtual credit card terminal’ provided by an external company under contract with the AMS. A service fee is charged on every payment, thus we strongly prefer cash for all payments.
In addition, members should know that credit card payments will be processed through this ‘virtual credit card terminal’ at Office Hours. The system does not swipe your card, but requires the exec/staff member to enter your card number online.
(What the heck is AMS? It’s the Alma Mater Society of UBC)
